LG 3280 Review

in Reviews

The LG 3280 is a simple yet stylish phone perfect for users who want to get a Tracfone. It packs in itself a variety of good features some of which are:

  • It’s a Tracfone that’s come into the scene after the Nokia 2126 which is a good solid phone but is slowly getting outdated.
  • Firmware upgrade can be added to the phone and hence new features can be added as and when required.
  • The phone has a hundredths place in airtime balance display which is a first in this scenario because now everything is conducted in the tenths of a unit or a whole unit.
  • The phone can slip into analog mode as it is a tri-mode phone.
  • This phone has the function of buying airtime directly on the phone through a prepaid menu.
  • While other CDMA phones charge you double minutes for roaming, the LG 3280 charges one unit per minute even for Long Distance International Calls.
  • Messaging with LG 3280 is .3 units in and .3 units out as compared to .5 units on most other CDMA phones.
  • The call quality is good except in naturally low signal areas.
  • The battery life is pretty good lasting 6 days at a stretch with light usage.
  • The typical extra features range from voice recording to using those recordings for ringtones, to voice dialing, to standard and tip calculators, to limited PDA functions.
  • The phone has monophonic and polyphonic ringtones including a nice vibrating alert as well.
  • The phone is not very thick and bulky and is light and portable.
  • The phone has a two way speaker phone which you will not find in certain other CDMA phones.
  • The user interface is quite utilitarian and easy to understand. But with its pros it has its cons too:
  • Although the design is solid and sturdy, the outer coating seems to chip away at the edges with little use.
  • The LCD display is too small and has no external caller ID display.
  • Surprisingly, the phone packs no games.
  • The battery life slides down to almost nil in the analog mode.
  • The monophonic tunes can sometimes be ear-splitting.

All in all, this phone is a perfect choice for those who want a sturdy Tracfone with reasonable features and good call rates. The Nokia 2126 is also a good option in this category although it may not look as stylish as this one.
